Eastnor CC has a thriving junior section catering for players of all abilities from the youngest members who are learning the basic skills of the game to those in the older age groups who continue to develop their skills and enjoy the opportunity to play in senior sides.
At Eastnor Cricket Club we have three goals:
-
To develop cricketing skills and respect for the game and fellow players.
-
To provide a safe and family-friendly environment in which all can enjoy the game of cricket.
-
To instill a love of cricket for life.
Eastnor Junior Cricket is a 3-way partnership between coaches, players and their families.
We coach the basic techniques and teach an understanding of the game. We encourage a spirit of competitiveness whilst maintaining respect for other players, on both sides, and ensuring that we enjoy the game – win or lose. We believe that cricket is a game for life and that the junior section is the life-blood of any club. Therefore we support the transition to senior levels by introducing older juniors to the senior sides in Saturday League games or Sunday Friendly fixtures – this develops their confidence and cricketing skills and provides them with the opportunity to continue their playing career. There is also the chance for players with potential to be nominated for trials at District or County level.
Our coaches are all trained to ECB Level 1 (now replaced by Helpers Course) or ECB Level 2 and are supported by enthusiastic helpers – but they are giving up their own time. We expect junior players to respect them and their time by being equally enthusiastic and committed by arriving promptly and paying full and proper attention during coaching sessions and games.
Finally, we need the support of parents – to take your children to coaching and matches and support them and to endorse our code of conduct. As a club we have a duty of care for your children whilst they are at the club or games however we expect them to behave in sensible and responsible manner and we would ask you to ensure this is the case. Further information for parents or gardians is contained in the 'Information for Parents & Guardians' section of this website.
We also want you to join in the social life of the club. We offer a friendly environment where you can relax, enjoy your children’s successes on the field and share a drink and refreshments with fellow cricketing parents and players.
Eastnor has an excellent management team tasked with the responsibility of running the Junior Section, they are:
Lisa Smith - Youth Co-ordinator - M: 07496 015489
Malcolm Hughes – Youth Manager – Tel: 01432 270815
Steve Onions – Youth Manager/Youth Welfare Officer - Tel:01531 635144 (H) or 01531 635242 (W)
Annabel Gatherer - Youth Welfare Officer
Lisa Dandy - Youth Welfare Officer
They are assisted by a dedicated group of coaches, team managers, helpers and parents.
We enter various age group teams from Under 9's to Under 15's in the Herefordshire Junior League - South Division, this is to ensure that as many as possible of the players experienced the game situation.
Whilst we have yet to establish dedicated girls cricket teams at Eastnor we encourage girls to join in at all our age groups, and play in mixed team matches.
In 2022 Eastnor CC achieved re-accreditation to ClubMark , initial accreditation being granted in 2008 . We aim to ensure a continued high standard of coaching and enjoy the support of lots of parents as coaching assistants/ scorers etc. The welfare, safety of players and enjoyment of the game are our priority.
Whether you are new to cricket or seeking a friendly junior section in which to develop and enjoy your cricket, we look forward to welcoming you to Eastnor's Junior section.
